Northside has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the McIntosh Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Chiefs like a good challenge.
Northside pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northgate. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Vikings are ranked 142nd).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, McIntosh's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 54-40 fall against New Manchester. The match was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but McIntosh couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the defeat, McIntosh got a solid performance out of Adan Dollens, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Biggs, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Northside dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for McIntosh, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Northside took a serious blow against the Chiefs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 78-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dollens, who scored 33 points. Now that Northside knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
