The Buckingham Knights will face off against the Amherst County Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Buckingham is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Avery Schaeffer was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Buckingham let Andrew Dorrier and Ethan Walter run wild. Dorrier went 3-for-4 with two runs, while Walter went 1-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Walter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Trey Jones was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Buckingham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Amherst County didn't have quite enough to beat Glass on Friday and fell 3-2. The Lancers have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Buckingham pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Amherst County, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Buckingham was able to grind out a solid win over Amherst County in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 12-8. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
