Basketball Recap: Lincoln Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

If Bear River wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lincoln, they should've done a better job of containing Michael Neely. The Lincoln Fighting Zebras strolled past the Bear River Bruins with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 66-50 thanks in part to Neely, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024.

Mason Volzer was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, Bear River still got an impressive performance from Dylan Donley, who went 10 for 25 on his way to 25 points. That was a full 50% of Bear River's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Jeffers, who had two points in addition to 11 boards and six assists.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Bear River, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

Lincoln will venture away from home to take on Wheatland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lincoln has three straight victories, Wheatland has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Bear River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bear River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
