On Wednesday, Marian Central Catholic got the win against Aurora Christian by a conclusive 15-1. The game marked the Hurricanes' most dominant victory of the season.
Vivianna Lara and Bailey Keller did most of the damage at the plate: Lara went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Keller went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. That triple marked the first that Lara has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Kowalsky, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Marian Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Timothy Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Chicago Hope Academy 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 9th.
Maci Woerner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Kottke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Grace Hoffman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Timothy Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Marian Central Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
