The Triton Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Pine Forest Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Triton is ranked 224th, while Pine Forest is ranked 228th).
Triton can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 58-23 victory over Western Harnett at home. Triton pushed the score to 40-12 by the end of the third, a deficit Western Harnett had little chance of recovering from.
Triton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Neveah Hawley, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Nashara McNeil-Watlington, who scored 16 points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest struggled with assists on Tuesday (E.E. Smith had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pine Forest ended up on the wrong side of a rough 54-31 walloping at the hands of E.E. Smith. Pine Forest was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.
The losing side was boosted by Chloe Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games.
Triton's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Pine Forest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.
Triton came up short against Pine Forest in their previous matchup back in January, falling 50-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Now that Triton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
