Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Trinity Chargers. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Zaderick Chavez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Chavez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Zaidan Knowles was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Trinity is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy will square off against Tournament Opponent at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Tournament Opponent has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Trinity, they will face off against Wink at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
