 On the hitting side,  Ava Howard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with a  home run. The team also got some help courtesy of  Karson Honaker, who  went 1-for-3 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Russell  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 17  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 On Greenup County's side, they also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in:  Josey Kegley gave up five earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
 At the plate,  Skyler Lawrence was  incredible,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Adrian Wells, who  scored three  runs while going 1-for-4.
 Russell's loss  ended  a  five-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 15-5. As for Greenup County, the  win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
 Russell will be staying on the road  on Saturday to face off against South Webster at 12:00  p.m. South Webster's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8  runs per game  this season, so Russell's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Greenup County, they will stay at home for another  game and welcome Raceland at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
