The Pleasant Valley Vikings will face off against the Foothill Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Pleasant Valley sitting on 12 straight wins and Foothill on five.
Pleasant Valley proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Chico. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 8th.
Alissa Snipes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, Lily Thurman was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carisma Ta'Amai, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Foothill put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Shasta. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Pleasant Valley, Foothill also got a great game from a two-way player: Elisea Wiegand. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Wiegand was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, Foothill let Rylee Vakulich and TatiAnna Seuasoukseng run wild. Vakulich went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Seuasoukseng went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Malia Webb was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Pleasant Valley pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Foothill, their record is now 20-5-1.
Pleasant Valley took their victory against Foothill in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
