Orangeburg-Wilkinson is 1-9 against the Diamond Hornets since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They really took it to Dreher for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-18 win at home. With Orangeburg-Wilkinson ahead 39-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Lower Richland entered their tilt with the Tigers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Lower Richland simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Tigers 45-10 on the road. Given Lower Richland's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Tigers are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lower Richland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chi?nya Isaac, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Isaac has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Taelor Hiller-johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Lower Richland, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson was taken down by the Diamond Hornets 62-28 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Orangeburg-Wilkinson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
