The East Leopards fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Kearns by a score of 33-21 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for East, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
East was led to victory by Dameon Crosby and Nunu Fonua. Crosby threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes, while Fonua rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. East also got help from Damian Otukolo who showed off his sure hands for 93 receiving yards.
East's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Papa Matelau and his two sacks.
Teki Finau and Kayden Morrey, Kearns certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Finau rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns, while Morrey picked up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Kearns, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6.
East will take on Springville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Springville is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Kearns does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
