Roscoe is 0-5 against Albany since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roscoe Plowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Albany Lions at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roscoe had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Texas Leadership Charter Academy - Abilene 57-0 at home. Roscoe's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Meanwhile, Albany put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. They claimed a resounding 49-0 victory over Cross Plains on the road. Given Albany's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Cross Plains is ranked 970th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adam Hill was his usual excellent self, rushing for 90 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Tyler Chapman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Roscoe to 6-1 and Albany to 7-0.
Roscoe took a serious blow against Albany in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 55-0. Can Roscoe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
