Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Vikings vs. Galion Tigers

River Valley is 10-0 against Galion since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The River Valley Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Galion Tigers at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in River Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

River Valley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Highland: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that River Valley blew Highland out of the water with a 76-39 final score. With the Vikings ahead 44-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sawyer Weston led the charge by going 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most steals Weston has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Myers, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points.

River Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Galion was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 49-43 to Pleasant.

River Valley's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Galion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

River Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Galion in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win. Does River Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Galion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
