Wiggins is 0-3 against Briggsdale since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wiggins Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Briggsdale Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Wiggins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Friday.
Last Friday, Wiggins lost to Merino at home by a decisive 52-34 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wiggins has scored all season.
Riley Hunt put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Taelynn Epple was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Briggsdale scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 70-31 win over Weldon Valley. Briggsdale has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 28 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Jenna Krise, who scored 28 points along with eight steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Briggsdale's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Loyd, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Wiggins' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5. As for Briggsdale, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wiggins have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Briggsdale, though, as they've been averaging only 24 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
