Sonoran Science Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brighton Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Jaziel Nunez, who scored 20 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Dylan Mastrapasqua was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Sonoran Science Academy's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for Brighton Charter, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
Sonoran Science Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Our Lady of the Sun Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Brighton Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Jefferson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Jefferson Prep is ranked 291st, while Brighton Charter is ranked 272nd).
