Pearland is 0-5 against Dickinson since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pearland Oilers will square off against the Dickinson Gators at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Pearland sitting on three straight wins and Dickinson on nine.
Last Thursday, Pearland strolled past Alief Hastings with points to spare, taking the game 44-27. Given Pearland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Alief Hastings is ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ladamion Mcdowell, who rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mcdowell's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Another player making a difference was Cole Morkovsky, who threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pearland's defense and their six sacks. Leading the way was Joseph Credit and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Dickinson stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Clear Brook, posting a 42-0 win at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Dickinson just coasted through the last quarter.
Pearland is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Dickinson, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record.
Things could have been worse for Pearland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-21 loss to Dickinson when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Pearland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
