The Pine Ridge Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Umatilla Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Pine Ridge: 2.6, Umatilla: 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Pine Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Seminole a 9-0 shutout on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Seminole's batters probably weren't too happy with Loren Cheatham, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (he gave up a single walk). What's more, Cheatham gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Kenny Capria was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abiezer Robledo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Umatilla hadn't done well against Tavares recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Umatilla blew past Tavares 13-1. Umatilla hasn't had any issues with Tavares recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Keegan St. Amant was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Umatilla: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. St. Amant was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Umatilla got a massive performance out of Nick Sande, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Sande is becoming a predictor of Umatilla's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Wyatt Strawbridge was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Umatilla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tavares only managed two hits.
Pine Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2-2. As for Umatilla, their record now sits at 5-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pine Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Umatilla struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
