South Point hasn't had much luck against Dawson-Bryant recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pointers will be playing at home against the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. South Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
South Point's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Chesapeake as they made off with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pointers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Kota Copley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kaylee Stidham was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Adyson Copley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
South Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Dawson-Bryant beat Portsmouth 8-3 on Wednesday.
Like South Point, Dawson-Bryant also got a great game from a two-way player: Rylee Bare. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Bare was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzy Kitts, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Shayanna Collins, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
South Point's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Dawson-Bryant, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
Dawson-Bryant's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. South Point has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Dawson-Bryant, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will South Point keep running through batters, or will the Hornets buck the trend?
