Crystal City is 5-0 against Jourdanton since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Crystal City Javelinas will head out on the road to face off against the Jourdanton Indians/Squaws at 7:30 p.m. Crystal City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Crystal City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Cigarroa 86-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Crystal City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eli Mata, who scored 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Mena, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Jourdanton earned a 60-53 victory over Luling on Tuesday.
The win got Crystal City back to even at 8-8. As for Jourdanton, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Crystal City beat Jourdanton 74-67 in their previous meeting back in February of 2016. Will Crystal City repeat their success, or does Jourdanton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
