It was a good run, but the Woodlan Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 61-40 defeat at the hands of Jay County. Woodlan has struggled against Jay County recently, as their match on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Woodlan saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Anderson dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reagan Widenhoefer, who scored 12 points.
Jay County was led to victory by Hallie Schwieterman and Sophia Saxman. Schwieterman scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Saxman dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Schwieterman hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Muhlenkamp, who scored ten points.
Woodlan's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Jay County, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Woodlan and Fremont will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Jay County, they will head out on the road to square off against Delta at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Delta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
