The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen are taking a road trip to take on the Troy Flying Horses at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Guilderland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flying Dutchmen have posted against the Spartans since April 20, 2018.

Not much got past Christian Walsh, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake off the board. Walsh also tossed a walk, which is notable because Guilderland is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Guilderland's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Balleau, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Carter Sweeney also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Troy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Mohonasen 6-5.
Kayne Behan made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Berghela, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Taj Creese was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Troy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Guilderland and bumps their season record up to 3-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Troy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Guilderland came up short against Troy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Flying Dutchmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
