Given Whale Branch's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Allendale-Fairfax is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whale Branch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kj Chisholm, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Greggory Gilbert, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Whale Branch is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Allendale-Fairfax, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whale Branch won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bethune-Bowman at 6:30 p.m. on January 4th. As for Allendale-Fairfax, they will head out on the road to face off against Branchville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Branchville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
