The Kendall Eagles will square off against the Perry Yellowjackets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kendall will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Kendall's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when School of the Arts hitters got past them. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Silverhawks on Monday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Perry not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 16-0). They blew past Dundee 12-1.
Walker Briggs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Perry is 6-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Briggs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maximus Siewert and Patrick Feroleto did most of the damage at the plate: Siewert got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Feroleto went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Siewert has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Beau Solcum, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Kendall pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Everything went Kendall's way against Perry in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Kendall made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
