MMI Preparatory School hasn't had much luck against Lake-Lehman recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. MMI Preparatory School will welcome Lake-Lehman at 4:15 p.m. MMI Preparatory School has given up an average of 16.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
MMI Preparatory School is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 19-9. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked MMI Preparatory School's highest-scoring match to date.
Meanwhile, Lake-Lehman had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Chipego made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Finarelli, who fired off two home runs and five runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Brudnicki, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Lake-Lehman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive contests.
Lake-Lehman's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for MMI Preparatory School, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
MMI Preparatory School might still be hurting after the 21-2 defeat they got from Lake-Lehman in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Can MMI Preparatory School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
