Baseball Recap: Lyons Has No Trouble Against Neuqua Valley

Lyons barely beat Neuqua Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lyons blew past Neuqua Valley 14-4 on Friday. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Tucker King looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Blake Ragsdale and Noah Fitzgerald did most of the damage at the plate: Ragsdale scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Fitzgerald went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Fitzgerald a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Georgelos, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lyons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .423 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Lyons' record now sits at 3-0. As for Neuqua Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3-1.

Looking ahead, Lyons will challenge Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Neuqua Valley, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Neuqua Valley Wildcats duke it out with Plainfield South Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
