Even though the Galena Pirates have not done well against the Scales Mound Hornets recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Galena walked away with a 62-55 win over Scales Mound. The win was nothing new for Galena as they're now sitting on five straight.
Galena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Glasgow led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Glasgow is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Hauber, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Scales Mound's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Cogan, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Thomas Hereau who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Cogan hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Kaden Duerr was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Galena has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Scales Mound, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.
Galena will head out on the road to square off against Eastland at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday. Eastland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Scales Mound, they will face off against Rochelle at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rochelle has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-3 during that stretch of close contests.
