It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Southland Christian FLAMES ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past Poinciana with a 66-62 win. The victory was just what Southland Christian needed coming off of a 63-36 defeat in their prior match.
Michael Pellot continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with 9 rebounds and 8 assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Juan Rios was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Issac, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hakeem Alvena , who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Southland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Poinciana, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Southland Christian will head out on the road to face off against IMG Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Poinciana, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th.
