It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Maria Carrillo Pumas can now relate to. They were dealt a 59-7 defeat at the hands of San Marin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Maria Carrillo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 405th, while San Marin is ranked 83rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Marin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dominic Ingrassia, who threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Zack Farbstein and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in San Marin's victory.
Maria Carrillo bumped their record down to 6-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for San Marin, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Maria Carrillo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. San Marin will face off against Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
