On Saturday, Pace Academy earned a 63-54 victory over Pebblebrook. Given Pace Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Pebblebrook is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pace Academy was led to victory by Lamar Moore and MJ Madison. Moore dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Madison scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Madison has scored all season. Kyle Greene was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Pace Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Pebblebrook, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pace Academy will face off against Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Hampton: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Pace Academy has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road. As for Pebblebrook, Pebblebrook and Westlake will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westlake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Pebblebrook likes a good challenge.
