Basketball Recap: Newark Piles Up the Points Against Lamoille

Newark posted their biggest victory since January 14th on Tuesday. They blew past the LaMoille Lions, posting a 63-36 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Norsemen also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Payton Wills continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2023. Cody Kulbartz was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 13 boards and five blocks.

Newark was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaMoille only racked up 11 assists.

When it comes to explaining why LaMoille lost, don't look at Tyler Billhorn. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Billhorn's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Klein, who posted seven points along with seven boards and six assists.

Newark's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for LaMoille, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.

Newark has already played their next contest (against Sandwich), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. LaMoille will take on Earlville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Earlville will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something LaMoille surely won't give up without a fight.
