Bella Smith looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Notre Dame got a massive performance out of Kenley Sonnier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cate Romero, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .688. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Jennings hadn't done well against St. Edmund recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs skirted past the Fighting Blue Jays 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Jenna Morvant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Emma Kate Mack was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Venable, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Jennings' record is now 12-7. As for Notre Dame, they pushed their record up to 26-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Notre Dame's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Pioneers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jennings, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Notre Dame continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Notre Dame's way against Jennings in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Notre Dame made off with an 11-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
