The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans will face off against the Rancho Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Cimarron-Memorial got the win against Desert Pines by a conclusive 19-1. That looming 19-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.
Jazlene Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Cimarron-Memorial got a massive performance out of Taylor Ramos, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Ramos has posted since back in April of 2024. Jasmine Ponce was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs.
Cimarron-Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Pines only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, Rancho scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alainna Weber stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Annalise Stout, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Cimarron-Memorial now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Rancho, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Rancho's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cimarron-Memorial has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .544. It's a different story for Rancho, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Cimarron-Memorial's hitters?
Cimarron-Memorial came up short against Rancho in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Cimarron-Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
