The Currituck County Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Granby Comets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Currituck County got the win against Pasquotank County by a conclusive 13-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Riley High made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Currituck County let Amelia Cervantes and Victoria Jones run wild. Cervantes scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Cervantes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kori Belangia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Currituck County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, while Granby put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Booker T. Washington. The Comets put the hurt on the Mighty Bookers with a sharp 13-0 victory. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Mighty Bookers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Anwynn Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Williams was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. She is also on a roll when it comes to doubles, as she's now hit two or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other pitching news, AJ Lomogda looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Aerabella H was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Kya Harris was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Currituck County's record is now 10-7. As for Granby, their record now sits at 6-2.
Currituck County couldn't quite finish off Granby when the teams last played back in March and fell 8-6. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
