The North Penn-Liberty Mountie struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Muncy Indians had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Penn-Liberty was outmatched by Muncy at home and fell 59-32. North Penn-Liberty lost against Muncy in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-54 score last time.
North Penn-Liberty's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Louis Mercantino, who scored nine points.
Noah Confer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Muncy, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Confer has scored at least 25% of Muncy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stiles Eyer, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
North Penn-Liberty has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Muncy, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Penn-Liberty has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Galeton at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Muncy will take on South Williamsport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
