The Adams Cougars will be playing at home against the Birdville Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After soaring to 62 points the game before, Adams were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 57-7 loss at the hands of Newman Smith. Adams was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-7.
Jacori Luckey put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Luckey hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Even if they lost, Adams' defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Newman Smith's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. Newman Smith's QB won't forget Devin Jones anytime soon given Jones sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, Birdville was the victim of a tough 42-18 loss at the hands of Richland on Friday. While losing is never fun, Birdville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Richland is ranked 137th).
Adams' loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 6.3 points per game. As for Birdville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Adams took a serious blow against Birdville in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 42-6. Will Adams have more luck at home instead of on the road?
