Last Friday, Lone Peak faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lone Peak took down Westlake 54-36. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 27% better than the opposition, as Lone Peak's was.
Lone Peak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naia Tanuvasa, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Tanuvasa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shawnee Nordstrom, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove was the victim of a rough 69-46 defeat at the hands of Lehi on Friday. Pleasant Grove was down 54-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Lone Peak pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.18 points. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Everything went Lone Peak's way against Pleasant Grove when the teams last played on January 12th as Lone Peak made off with a 71-46 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pleasant Grove's Tabi Clark, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
