The Portland Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by LEAD Academy at home to the tune of 63-31. The win was a breath of fresh air for Portland as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taya Totten, who scored 13 points along with five assists. Kemiyah Kelsey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Portland's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for LEAD Academy, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland will take on Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Macon County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Tuesday. As for LEAD Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pearl-Cohn at 6:00 p.m. Pearl-Cohn presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than LEAD Academy in Tennessee (Pearl-Cohn is ranked 117th, while LEAD Academy is ranked 369th).
