The Damonte Ranch Mustangs put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 63-48 win over Bishop Manogue. Given Damonte Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Bishop Manogue is ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jace Anderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 22 rebounds. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jiro Basabas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Bishop Manogue saw an underclassman step up: James Williams scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Daniel Horgan, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Damonte Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Bishop Manogue, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Damonte Ranch will challenge Reed at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Reed's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Bishop Manogue, they will head out on the road to face off against Douglas at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Douglas is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
