In what's become a running theme this season, the Morgan Township Cherokees gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over South Central. Given Morgan Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while South Central is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Keagen Holder was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Wheeler, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, South Central had strong showings from Jay Huerta, who scored 13 points, and Brayden Lautenbach, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Morgan Township has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for South Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Morgan Township on the road again on Saturday and play against Westville at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Westville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for South Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Tri-Township at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
