Taylorsville is 7-1 against West since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Taylorsville Warriors will finish 2023 at home by hosting the West Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Taylorsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 85-77 to Summit Academy. Taylorsville found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Taylorsville had strong showings from Kobe Allen, who scored 32 points along with three steals, and Bronson Dallimore, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. Allen scored a full 41.6% of Taylorsville's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Logan Bertagnolli was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, West didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Ben Lomond on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory.
Taylorsville bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for West, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Taylorsville and West were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February, but Taylorsville came up empty-handed after a 60-59 defeat. Can Taylorsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
