Orange Vista hasn't had much luck against Poly recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Coyotes will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 3:15 p.m. Orange Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Orange Vista made easy work of Rancho Verde and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Orange Vista got a big performance out of Angela Suarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Suarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Macai Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Orange Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Poly posted their closest victory since March 21st on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Paloma Valley 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Karly Romero was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Cortez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Poly's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Orange Vista, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Orange Vista hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Orange Vista suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Poly when the teams last played back in April. Will the Coyotes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
