Combs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks 19-2 on Wednesday. The  win was a breath of fresh air for the Coyotes as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
 Elliana Snyder was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out nine batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   one  hit. Snyder was also big at the plate,  going 4-for-5 with five  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.

 In other batting news,  Melissa Gonzalez and  Jaecie Johnson did most of the damage at the plate:  Gonzalez  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 4-for-5, while  Johnson  went 4-for-5 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs. The dominant performance also gave  Gonzalez a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Nikey Stewart, who  scored three  runs while going 3-for-3.
 Combs was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Sunrise only posted a  batting average of  .353.
 Coming up, Combs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Marcos de Niza  at 3:45  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Desert Sunrise, they are headed away from home for the first time to  challenge  Goldwater  at 3:45  p.m.  on Thursday.
