The Homestead Spartans will challenge the Carroll Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Homestead's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Carroll's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Homestead is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 7-4 to the Saints.
Charlie Herr made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Bardwell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carroll). They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Fort Wayne Snider on Monday. The Chargers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2025 (when they won 11-0).
Rhett Swoverland made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adler Kellams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Carroll is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Riley Geiger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Homestead got the 'W' in their previous meeting last Monday against Carroll by a conclusive 16-8 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
