River Valley put the hurt on Tonopah Valley with a sharp 36-15 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory River Valley has managed all season.
River Valley found their leader in underclassman Veronica Galvez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Waldrip, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for River Valley and bumps their season record up to 3-14. As for Tonopah Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Valley and Yuma Catholic will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Yuma Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Valley in Arizona (Yuma Catholic is ranked 145th, while River Valley is ranked 291st). As for Tonopah Valley, they will be playing at home against American Leadership Academy - West Foothills at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
