A Season-Best Effort from Brandon Figueroa Leads Irvine over Canyon
On Thursday, Irvine got the W thanks in part to Brandon Figueroa playing the best football he has all season. Figueroa rushed for 335 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 18.6 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 94 yards.
Unfortunately for Canyon, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Figueroa. Figueroa rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns the last time he and the Comanches duked it out back in August of 2023.

Olin Morales Hyder Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Sonora came up short on Friday despite Olin Morales Hyder delivering his best game to date. Morales Hyder rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Sonora now has a losing record at 3-4. Morales Hyder and Sonora will square off against Santa Ana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mckelvy Made His Presence Known in El Toro's 31-28 Win
Jack Mckelvy posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns.
For the year, Mckelvy has thrown 17 touchdowns while averaging 193.7 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 32.46 passer rating per game. This year he is averaging 96.9 passer rating.

Rudy Alcala Turns in Season-Best Performance
Troy was led to victory by Rudy Alcala, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Alcala threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Troy's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Alcala will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against Canyon on Friday.

Ethan Mundt Delivers Electric Effort Vs Santa Ana
Another Troy player making an appearance on this list is Ethan Mundt. He picked up 73 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 61 yards.
