Softball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Extends Winning Streak to Five

St. Mary's Ryken entered their tilt with The Academy of the Holy Cross on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tartans a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lacey Jones and Mikaela Guy made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Jones pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Guy kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. At bat, Jones scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Guy scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ava Chadwick was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Amira Brown, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

St. Mary's Ryken's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Ryken will face off against Northern at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they will be playing at home against Bishop O'Connell on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Tartans surely won't give up without a fight.
