The Midtown Knights put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Jones County 36-33. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Midtown has scored all season.
Midtown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Briaiah Lewis, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The match was Lewis' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cate Barton, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Midtown's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Jones County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midtown will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Stockbridge at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Stockbridge is on a three-game streak of home wins, Midtown a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Jones County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Houston County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
