Woodward is 9-1 against Aiken since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Woodward Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Aiken Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Woodward can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Taft out 85-82. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Woodward has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Aiken waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past Hughes 70-50. Given Aiken's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Hughes is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aiken got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Burnett out in front who scored 15 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Arnold, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Woodward's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Aiken, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Woodward beat Aiken 74-66 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Woodward repeat their success, or does Aiken have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
