The Northview Vikings and the Bonita Bearcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Northview Vikings had to settle for second. Northview was just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to Bonita. Northview gained 112 more yards on the day, but it was Bonita that made the best of use of them.
Northview's loss came despite strong showings from Keanu Tauvao and Angel Barraza. Tauvao rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown, while Barraza rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Northview's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Matthew Gonzalez and his two sacks.
Bonita found their leader in underclassman Daniel Mielke ii, who threw for 271 yards and a touchdown. Noah Mikhail also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Northview and nudges their season record down to 8-3. As for Bonita, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Northview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bonita will head out on the road to face off against Thousand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thousand Oaks will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
