Tavares had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it ten. They lost 10-3 to the South Sumter Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 27-9 back in February.

Nina Earl put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kendall West was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Bailey Rasmussen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for South Sumter, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Like Tavares, South Sumter also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Barnes. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Barnes was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Callie Moulton and Maddox Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Moulton got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Adams got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Emily Shepherd was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Coming up, Tavares will be playing at home against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Sumter, they will take on East Lake in a tournament on Friday.
