The Moorestown (N.J.) Quakers girls lacrosse team has won nine consecutive New Jersey Group 3 state titles, and heading into Saturday’s game against Mount Hebron was looking to extend this season’s winning streak to 14.
But Hebron had different plans, playing the New Jersey powerhouse to a draw during regulation and forcing overtime before clinching a 12-11 win.
Hebron’s Ashley Bruns finished with a game-high eight goals, including the final four in regulation to force overtime.
In the extra period, Julian Giles scored to give the Vikings a one goal lead and then Bruns picked off an errant Quaker pass, enabling Hebron to stall the game away for the win.
Mount Hebron (12-2) will begin play in the MPSSAA state tournament this week. First round games are scheduled for Thursday, with quarterfinals taking place on Saturday.
More Girls Lacrosse: Liberty moves closer to Carroll County title

Maggie McCormick (four goals) and Amy Roguski (two goals, two assists) led Liberty, which jumped out to an 8-1 lead before allowing Century to make a comeback.
Marissa Pierson pulled the Knights to within one goal with 8:42 left, but that’s as close as they would get.

More Boys Lacrosse: Loyola upsets Boys’ Latin
Boys’ Latin rode a three-game winning streak — which included an upset win over rival Gilman — into Friday night’s game against Loyola-Blakefield. But when the final horn sounded, the Lakers found themselves on the wrong side of this upset, losing 10-9 to the visiting Dons.
Trevor Dauses scored a game-high five goals, including two with less than a minute to play in the fourth quarter and one in the second overtime, to help Loyola snap a four-game losing streak with the come-from-behind 10-9 win over Boys’ Latin.
Christian Welsh led Boys’ Latin with two goals and two assists.
Loyola (8-6, 4-4), who with the win is now in fifth place and in good position to qualify for the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference playoffs, travels to Severn (13-7, 2-5) on Tuesday afternoon before closing out its regular season by hosting Mount St. Joseph (8-6, 2-5) on Thursday.
Boys’ Latin (12-3, 5-3), currently in fourth place in the MIAA A Conference, will look to get back on the winning track and carry some momentum into the playoffs when it hosts Mount St. Joseph (8-6) on Tuesday afternoon. The Lakers will then travel to Severn on Friday for each team’s last game of the regular season.
